Post Video Sharing Site (Advice needed)

Hey,
Well i'm creating a video sharing site soon for T rated and below videos. I've choosen my script and i know my way around it but i need to question a few factors first. If you can help me answer them it would make things better as i know i'm on the same track.

Also remember there self-hosted videos meaning that i would be hosting them risky but i know whats right and wrong for it. Before you say the obvious like duh it would take alot of bandwidth i already know that lol... How you think i run 39 websites ffs! Lol...

1) Does the server need special hosting? or just a VPS/dedi would do?
2) Does it need plugins for the server and such?
3) Would many hosts accept a video sharing site into there hosting?
4) What else would be needed?

If anyone has some good knows about this let me know here or PM thanks!

it all depends on the script.
if it is all embedded,it'll use server resources as much as an arcade,ok a little more.
also it depends on how the videos are shared.if the embedded code is pulling from a php file,it will use a lot more resources then a direct hot linking to the file.that wont be ok for a shared server.

if it needs something extra installed, your looking at a dedicated and you still have to install what it needs.

if the script can handle a shared server, you'll have to be able to change the php.ini.

Well i was looking at phpmotion and it looks great and the mods which are in the forum looks great too for addons. Reason why i'm doing this as i have many arcades/gaming sites with videos from diffrent sources and diffrent servers. This would also help my arcades aswell as the site itself thats using the script. Thinking about using Godki.com as its catchy for a good site. Plus i need to use it on something lol.

It would have embedded features open, Direct hotlinking would be encoded to prevent it with encoded linking urls and would have a system which would make the source file expire within so many mins of use. And maybe split into diffrent files too which would make it even harder to get the sources. If i see any mass hotlinking going on i think i would be able to see that happening with the logs phpmotion has for tracking (mods).

I'll properly look into a VPS for it to start off with see how well that does for me then if its being over-used switch to a dedicated. I don't think its wise to start off a video site with shared accounting its resource demands.

I know there might or might not be some things i require but i guess i need to guess that myself what will be needed or not when opening the site.

I have used ClipShare before, but they required a lot of addons to my dedicated server. I gave up on it since the addons would cause my sysadmins a lot of work.

1) A dedicated/powerful VPS will do.
2) I wouldn't think so
3) I would go with an off-shore one, incase of issues with the content
4) LOADS of SEO, advertsing, etc,
