Red face The Force To VPS (Wakeup Call)

Hey,
Well as my sites expand i soon have to tell myself that i got to upgrade from shared to VPS... Well whoda thought i'll be better off on VPS than shared? cheaper infact lmfao!..

So i'll be switching over to VPS soon with my main sites.. Was liking shared too well not really lol... But i guess its that time to take the jump to the next level.

Most of my sites are turning next-gen level and i'm expecting 1 site to take a amazing jump for 1 keyword which would make it a instant hit.

(The only site thats currently extreme is ArcadeExchange.com using a dedicated server)

How does people feel upgrading to VPS is it really a smart move to make?

Go for dedicated or use a load balanced solution like mosso, grid layer, etc.

I just recently did it too, but not so easy for me - I'm a Windows guy and all this linux crap is confusing. LOL. The main thing for me was being able to host the mysql server locally, which made my site delays go away, and my bounce rate drop.

Dedicated takes a chunk off the expenses and i'm already running 1 but its for ArcadeExchange.com as its just completely busy lol...

I would rather do VPS then do a cross balance way then host my own dedicated server.

GetGamesHere,
Yea i was a little confused myself on the setup of things but it does just go in the same way though. But i still wanted to keep a low budget on expenses... Tuff choices have to be made.

Surely your exchange wouldn't need a dedicated?

My exchange and a few of my main sites easily sit on a VPS without any hiccups. Though I am guessing your Dedicated Server or VPS would be much slower than what I am using.

You can go wrong with have your own VPS's & Dedicated Servers I have a few of them for all my sites and like the control.

I currently use TopHostingCenter and they're great. Their shared hosting servers are practically like VPS servers with a dedicated IP. They don't use CPANEL, but use HSphere as their control panel software.

I talk to the owner a lot, so if any of you guys need deals on shared hosting or dedicated hosting, I can talk to him. He may be able to work out some sort of deal too for an even higher discount. Just PM me if any of you guys need me to talk to him.

Don't worry, I have no referral link or anything. lol.

Indeed it does at first it when it was starting off i used a shared as i was unsure if it was catch on or not. I then moved it to a VPS but the requirements i need a VPS cannot supply what i need. As you need to be prepared for any bigger sites which join your exchange soon as that happens i can rest assured that its safe.

I'm also planning a few extras that will boost my exchange with a diffrence to others as i'm looking into altertive ways for exchanging in a good way. My old VPS kinda caught... urm... fire... i don't know how but it did lmao.... So i needed something to run that would be smoove without any messups. (The dedicated server) best friend ever....

I have a few top hitters 1 which almost gotten my exchange into debt so i had no choice but to leave him to rick... *nudges rick* lol!.

But i guess my general sites are growing up *tear in eye* lolol... But seriously ArcadeExchange.com needs a dedicated server you'll soon find that out yourself when running a exchange when expanded. When i owned bannerflux that grew rapidly but i wasen't sure what i was targeting as i was aiming aimlessly... anyway you get it lol!

wildfxp,
I already know my own host too thats how i'm getting a great deal on a VPS. Anybody interested on what i run just pm away lol.

What dedicated server are you running. My exchange gets similar traffic to yours from what I see but doesn't go over 0.2 90% of the time on the VPS with a few other large websites just wondering... maybe you have a lot more settings used with the exchange or the newer script version chews more resources?

I myself have almost always used a VPS. I prefer them, because you have better control, and there is no nasty neighbours to slow the server.

Plus, it is cheaper than a shared. What I used to pay for a shared one, is 25% MORE than what I'm paying for a VPS - with the VPS having better specs
