Default Complete Game Lists in Arcade Footer

Hi,

I've been wondering whether adding a complete list of games on the front page of your arcade like miniclip.com and bootyarcade.com has a positive SEO effect.IMO it looks pretty fugly but I'm guessing it's there to maximize traffic right? What's the deal?

Here's what I'm talking about:

And then I'm also curious about the extended footers you see with long paragraphs of text describing the arcade. Obviously that sort of text is targeting keywords. How effective is that as an SEO technique?

Some things people do for the arcades in regards to SEO is dodgy and fine line on spamming.

I would not suggest having 200 links+ for all of the games you have on your website. Have a few sure and new links on the home page so they get found faster but then once they have been found they should keep on getting cached and updated and you will have links to these games from internal pages anyway.

As for having text plastered at the bottom of a website using Keywords and not making any logical sense is definitely spamming and websites can be banned in the search engines because of that.

i could disagree with that smithscomputers,

if you look at miniclip the site doesnt show all the links until users click on A-Z games ...

which means the 200+ links will only appear if the user wants it to apear so it aint really spaming if you do it the miniclip way...

Hi Archgames,

Sorry, I should have clarified myself a little better:

With the links to your own games on the website sure you could do that but in most cases it looks tacky and unappealing. When I was talking about spamming I was talking about other points.

If someone wast to have keywords at the bottom of their page saying:
Free Online Games, Play Free Online Games, Arcade Games For Free etc etc that is spamming.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion though, mine is based on the websites I have worked on over the years.

Google guidelines recommend limiting to a max of 100 links per page. And google definitely considers the footer text as keyword stuffing and is looked down upon.

I think a drop-down/jump-to menu listing all games in alphabetical order is quite a good idea. So could put: "Pick a game" and hey presto. I think Kongregate has something like that.

Those sites with huge paragraphs of pointless crappy text look spammy imo.
