301 redirection using .htaccess ....i purchased a website and dont really think the domain name is going to take off i need to change it ,is there an easier way than 301 redirect ? the site is in a shared hosting and cant find an option to point the new domain name to the new site ,i can see an option to point it at the principal hosting domain tho....

Have you got cpanel on it? If so... try...
click redirects and you should do it there... Want an other way? Create a blank index file you can try the java way.. http://www.web-source.net/javascript_redirect2.htm Or the html way.. (Prefered..) http://www.instant-web-site-tools.co...-redirect.html |

Is your domain with your host? You should try to avoid that.
If it was with a registrar you could just do domain forwarding right at the registrar. If it's with the host then a 301 through htaccess is going to be your option.

I don't use godaddy anymore (and enither should anyone else) but I'm sure you can redirect to a subdomain from their control panel.
You will usually have to switch the nameservers to their's before you can use their redirection settings. Quick search at GD gave me this: http://help.godaddy.com/article/422

That would be what's called a framed redirect.
There should be an option for regular or framed. If you can't find it you might want to contact GD support.
