Exclamation Unity Games - what to do with the ones already in our websites?

Hello,

I am facing a difficult decision: according to analytics, the play pages where unity games are displayed have a 2 or even 3 times shorter "time on page" and a larger exit ratio than normal flash/html5 games.

It seems that this data appears across all browser types, maybe Mozilla having better results, but not great when comparing to flash games.

So, what to do? Should I remove these games altogether? Currently there is a message displayed to the user when he doesn't have unity installed or if he visits the page with a browser that no longer support Unity (Chrome for example) but, according to the data from analytics, that doesn't help much

What did you do with your unity games?

Alin

That message will soon appear for flash as well. I say don't remove them, but start adding just html5 games to your site

If I keep them on the website as they are now I am going to loose money because visitors see that a game isn't working and assume that all games are not working so they just leave the website.

I think removing them is the better solution.

I am getting just 55 visitors/day from SE. Not a problem ... And a redirect to the index can be made anyway (using htaccess)

I don't see a problem with flash games...yet

Anyway, I have just removed the unity games. Curious to see what kind of change I'll see in analytics.

There is value in keeping them but you don't want to keep showing them. You could filter the games while keeping them?

You could tag the games with like "Unity" and run a filter that if the user string is chrome

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/53.0.2785.143 Safari/537.36

then return a 404 on the page. You could also change your queries to account for this \0 (make your queries change if this user agent is present). Issues being caching of course but this can be fixed \0

I would keep them but push them off the homepage / sidebars for sure (put them in the "back" of the site so that way only those really wanting it will play it).

Volus, I have thought about filtering them as well using cookies and php, but that's just too much for too litle. I am 99% sure that removing them is the best solution, at least in my case. I will return with reports from analytics in a day or 2.
