have you chmod'd any files lately? Some servers will give a 500 error if some files are chmod'd to 777, I know my shared hosting sites I can only chmod to 755

If you are getting an Internal Server Error and are on a Shared server (gator92 to gator260), you should have the "HG Extras" feature located at the bottom of CPanel on the x or x2 theme. Most of the time it should track where your Internal Server Error is coming from.

From support tickets I have looked at, most of the Internal Server Errors are from clients having world writable files, invalid entries in their htaccess files, or have over 25 running/hanging PHP processes.

I hope this information helps you guys/gals out for future reference.
From hostgator support forums...

LearnNewbie glad you can post a useful suggestion for once lol..

Yes i know there support sucks and everything they say sucks plus they may aswell star at a sucking contest as they would win year after year... But they are good enough for alot of people just a shame there configuration standards are not up to scratch with the rest of the internet.

I Have over 15+ sites on the one account... they can handle it its just the current server that hes using for shared has met its time or needs a few more adjustments for it. Im no pro but my host crissic.com would have a better idea over it.

I use Host Gator also. I don't need to CHMOD any PHP files. Only .cgi and .pl files. Unless the script I am installing says to do so for certain files. IF you CHMOD 755 any of your PHP files I would try making them CHMOD 644 to test. All my arcade files are set to that.
