Default mysql database?

Hi,
How much storage space do Game scripts in the mysql database? I'm currently thinking of getting a hosting package with 100mb of database storage, will that be enough?
thanks for any advice.

100mb is ok. A data base can get very big after users register and make comments and use the other features. Over time the database will grow but 100 mb is more than enough to start.

Datebase storage or space?

Sql is a lot smaller than the SWF's for an arcade site.

I've seen MySQL databases with 30,000 entries that take up just over 2 megs. for an arcade, 100 megs database space is more than enough to start out with.

If you're talking main disk space though, that's another story. 100 megs won't even begin to cover it for an arcade's main diskspace.

2 megs DB is still small. I have seen larger DB for things like blogs or forums, cause all lthe posts become the db. As far as an arcade DB goes.... small. Even whith users signing up, it is only 1 line of (text) DB.

Correct
The post becomes the db... Each charactor adds to the db. For aracade it is low txt, unless you have a forum attached.

Now that I am home on the lappie, let me try to explain further....kinda tough on the Black Berry....LOL!

A SQL file for a forum holds all the posts. Depending on how many posts, lenghth, and memebrs wil make the SQL large(R). If you own a phpbb of joomla or a off the shelf php app, you dont need to DL the whole site for a BU. You only need 2 things.
1- sql <> this wil have all posts and such
2- any "special" template files and logo.

With that you can go to any server and rebuild your site. A few clicks with fantasico and the SQL ...ALL DONE.

Now that I said all of that...an arcade in comparsion takes little SQL database. It needs some simple command lines to tie in the SWF/Thumb/link. It also contains the data for users. Now, remeber.....a SQL for an arcade site can be large, if there is any type of blog, forum, or anything tied to it.

Just like a song site I have. It has over 100,000 full length song lyrics. That DB is 251 meg in size. If it was just song titles, it migth be a few K in size.

The qusetion asked above was on an arcade site..

It depends really on the database setup and how many indexes it has as well.

If you are just talking about the database then an active site would eventually need more than 100mb's, but that would take a while to get that amount.

If you are talking about the games hosted on your server as well then you will probably be able to have around 150 games that are on average 500kb's each.
