Default Question about updating my arcade

I keep hearing that if you update your arcade daily you will get a lot more traffic after a while. I am not sure what I am supposed to update. Add a new game every day, write news every day. I really need the traffic.

Also I was thinking of starting a weekly or monthly newsletter stating the latest news and the newest games for each of my 3 arcades. Do you think that would help at all.

That confuses me too!
I say you can add all you want, but if you dont advertise it, get rtraffic to it, you can work on it adding content all day long and no one will show up! It always amazes me when some says I wil put up 2.000+ new games on my site. That will get me more tradffic. Will it? If you own 2 arcade sites. 1 has 100 games then other 10,000 games and dont advertise either.....what one will get more traffic. In my honest opinion...both will get about the same. The one with more game MIGHT get more in a few years after google gets a hold of it.

Lets take real life
A resturant adds or changes thier menu daily, but never tells any new customers. Do you think his/her biz will increase?

I also find that a user isnt loyal to any one site. As long as they find thier game, they are happy.

Newsletter sounds good, it might drive old traffic back. Again, if you have a flow of new (advertise) people and capture thier email address, then do the news letter to keep them coming back. You will have a winner!!
Just remeber, with a newsletter it has to be a OPT-IN or it will be considered spam and you could get a nasty email about it!

Adding more games on a regular basis and some sort of news/blog are probably the most important things. That much most people can guess at. But sit back and consider what differientiates your site from others? Start from there and add to that. You might update it by adding a forum as well. After all, how many arcade sites have a forum? Or you might consider a small store selling t shirts with the user's high score on them with where they got it(your site's URL). That would also be good advertising for your site. Updating your site means working on/improving it in any way you can imagine.

Advertising is not that hard now days. Start by link exchanges with other sites. I have one Gamers GO - For all your arcade needs! where anybody with an arcade related site can sign up. I've seen somebody who will submit your site to an estimated 11.9 million sites. Mostly search engines, directories, etc. Just look around and there are many many places and means to advertise now days, many of the free or cheap. As you track the results, you will quickly learn what works best for your site. Just make sure you remember to track the results.
