1&1 are very restrictive with there hosting and there rules. Also you have to use there control panel and not cpanel. I did go to them once but got a better deal with hostgator...

Better bandwidth + storage space plus the rules are more relaxed than 1&1

The only problem about HostGator is that I have two domains, so I would need a Baby plan. With a coupon, it would be ~$100/year. That's a bit too expensive for me now. My websites are small. I think it's better to start with this*host, and when my websites grow up (and I get more $$$), I would change to HG. But I haven't decided yet.
100$ a "YEAR" is much easier to make than you think, I think you should pick something that you can stay with atleast for a while. TBH, the only move you should be making is to a bigger server like a VPS and Dedi, not between shared hosting. you can easily make 8-10$ a month with almost any arcades with ads and low level traffic.
