Newb Question: How exactly do Game Plugs work?

We're working on exchanging links and traffic with other arcades, and we've come across the "game plugs" section on link exchange pages several times. Our arcades appear not to qualify for this type of link exchange, although perhaps we're not set up to install it yet.

Can someone explain, precisely, what we would need to do on our arcades/link lists to set up game plugs on another site's traffic exchange system? Much appreciated.

Unfortunately, it doesn't explain in detail what game plugs are or how they work, exactly. I'm not only interested in how to set them up (I have a vague idea of how they work technically), but I'm also interested in the theory behind them, and how to install game plugs effectively vs. just guessing.

I'll try and explain it:

You place a game image on your website and link it to another website with that game.

Sorry if thats hard to understand or wrong but its right in my mind i just cant explain it.
