What Ryan said is true, but you also have to consider that a lot of the newer games are being made larger as internet speeds increase and file sizes can be larger. So you might want to design your template with plenty of game space on the game page.
I give my game area a fair amount of space for these games that need to be large. I allow for up to 700 wide, all the games will vary in height. When you upload through you admin panel of your script it will auto detect the size for you. I rarely change that uploaded size. |

I have the same issue with my template as well, but I believe its much more worth it to make the game enjoyable (as thats the main reason for the visitor even being there at all) rather than making the game fit. It just takes priority over looks any way you look at it...

Then go with the amount of gamespace in your template, if you only have a space 470 wide, then thats all you can allow, otherwise it will cover parts of the template you wish to show.
Or you can have your designer allow for more game area in the next design |

It doesn't matter how enjoyable a game is... if you can't see the game in it's designed resolution, it's going to look bad.
Make whatever modifications you have to to your template to make sure that every game fits it and doesn't look out of place. If I were on a website and the game didn't fit onto the screen or looked squished, I would leave and find a better site.

I like to make sure 800x600 sized games will fit. I havn't seen any flash games bigger then that. When promoting my games I always hated finding sites that wouldn't fit my preferable game size of 700x450.
