Default Promoting your arcade

There are many ways to promote your arcades but here are a few that have worked wonders for me to bring in more and more members and return visitors.

Programs such as digg.com add in a link to your most popular games and Shout them to all your friends. Work out some deals with some of your friends for them to shout to their list and so on. This gives you amazing exposure to new eyes you would never get any other way.

Forum Sig postings. Go ahead do a search around for some of the most popular forums out there and START POSTING. This gives you awesome link backs and if you make quality post people will look at your sigs.

You missed out these two:

- Traffic Trading. Trading traffic with other arcades of all sizes

- Banner Exchanges. Adding 4-5 banner exchanges iwll do well.

Do games really do well on digg? What site have you done this for? The site in your sig doesn't seem to get much traffic at all.

The only thing Digg can do for your site is overload your servers

Getting on the frontpage of digg is like winning the lottery. Even if you have 1000 friends on there you'll still need 200 diggs to get promoted.

You just have to wait for the really good games to come out and promote them heavily through blogs and link dumps.

I dont like traffic trading, maybe because I dont see the big picture or something. Your sending a 1,000 of your visitors to get a thousand of their visitors right? if so why?

Because just like you said you send out 1000 visitors and get 1000 back... now you have 2000 visitors. instead of 1000 visitors who might bookmark a cool game on your site you have 2000 visitors who might bookmark their favorite on your site.

Lets say you trade with 10 sites and in theory you send 10 sites 100 visitors, who send 100 back, and then some of those visitors vist yet another of your trade sites, and now you are trading 110 instead of 100. This has the potential to grow very quickly.

It doesn't work for all website types, but entertainment sites do well with trading.

Just be careful who you trade with, and watch your stats closely, trading is also filled with cheaters. There are a lot of decent sites trading quality traffic, and I highly recommend doing at least some trading. Unless of course you can afford to sponsor a very well made game every other day. The you can be miniclips, or armor games and to hell with trading.

Just a word of warning about digg... I had a trader decide that they were going to boost their trade count to my site by uploading their out.php link to my site into digg. My site is new, and digg knocked it off the first page for awhile.
Digg links come at a price. You lose a bit of ranking if you upload cut and paste description into digg and give the same page title.
If you upload a site into digg, change the name up a bit so that the SE don't knock you out of the rankings because SE love digg so much.

Okay thats true.

I will try traffic trading, if I cant get a lot of visitors. When I get good enough I will make some games like once a month or something. For my first arcade site, I will try to follow Notdoppler approach.
