how come some (big) arcades get to skip mochiads?

sites such as: andkon.com, armorgames.com, addictinggames.com, and kongregate.com block the mochiad load.

does anyone know why/how they are allowed to do this?

andkon.com, armorgames.com, addictinggames.com don't have MochiAds games on them. When uploading to ArmorGames you have to confirm that the game doesn't have ads in it. In fact Andkon purchased a non-exclusive license for one of my games to remove the ads from their site.

Kongregate is a special case, they pay MochiAds so that all ads are blocked from their site automatically.

Any idea what Andkon's business plan might be? He advertises a lot in Adwords, yet he hardly runs any advertisements on his site ( 2x 728x90 and Google search). I can't imagine he's making any money unless there's something else he's doing that I'm not seeing.

he uses tribalfusion which has a high eCPM
so all those pageviews add up with only 2 banners
plus he advertises cheap on google adwords with those banners you see
same for mostfungames.com
and arcadeimpact.com and freegameshype.com they all advertise on google adwords

There's companies he could be using with a lot higher CPM than Tribal. And 728's aren't even that great as far as income generating banners go.

Plus, there's only so low you can pay with getting clicks on Adwords. Most likely he's buying on a CPM basis, because if he pays per click, he's losing money.

He gets a lot of traffic - and probably a good deal of repeat traffic is my guess... which is where he makes up the loss on the first click.

It's all speculative of course.
