Question So what made you start an arcade?

So what made you start an arcade? And has that goal been realized for you?

My primary reason for starting an arcade was to get returning traffic and in that regard my website has been a great success.

Good topic.

I think that the sale of ianag.com in 2006 got me started.
I've really enjoyed it because I've been a video game junky for so long.

I would say just loving video games all my life but without a doubt the money
I want to make. It winds up that it was and still is a great learning experience
and just love it all around. Lot of great sites out there to learn from and the people behind them.

I've been a computer gamer since the days of "Text Only Games" long before there was anything called "Graphics"...

Yeah, I played Zork on an Apple and Dungeon on a PDP-11 (although I played Space Invaders first).

I first got turned on to ZORK when I had a CPM based system with 8-inch Floppy drives...

I spent months on that game every night after work... I finally went out and purchased the cheat book and had to only use 2 of them to finally finish the game...

You got a marker pen with the book to expose the cheats when you highlighted them...

That was one amazing game when you consider that the creators had to come up with something that the players would just have to use their imaginations to figure out how to get through the game...

I also got Planet Fall after that, were you had robots to ask questions of and try to get through that game also...

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy was a tough one for me...

I didn't want to start one. I sort of slipped into it by accident. I stumbled across a thread about adding games to a website and decided to add some to my main site. I found a few scripts by accident and then digging. and tried out one. I then was offered a couple of scripts I could sell. One I bought outright, the other I received resell/alteration rights to(no, I'm not talking GS v1 either lol).

I no longer sell them of course, but I stay in it for the fun of it. I also learn quite a bit doing it. I learned most of what I know about coding PHP and MySQL by working on them.

I've started my arcade to study SEO and improve my skills, and also to learn something about this industry. I think money shouldn't be the primary reason for running an arcade, considering that it brings just a few bucks compared to some other works on the web that can bring a lot more money with less work!
