Ok so how about a competition that gets people to submit (reasonable) ideas for the development of a new game?

The biggest task would be finding a willing game developer (cough** Matmi **cough) to create the game.

The game gets branded with both the competition winner's site and the developer's site.

The entries are judged by a panel of 3-4 judges from some of the bigger gaming sites, each judge has a limited number of points to distrubute to each game proposal.

Competition entries will follow a prescribed layout and be geared towards being short and sharp. To be valid, each entry will need to fulfill one or several criteria such as include a banner about the competition on their arcade/website, stumble the competition post, twitter the competition post, refer a new member to the forum and any other way of generating buzz that people can think of.

We will also say that there has to be a minimum of 15 or 20 entries for the competition to be valid.

Yeah, well that's my idea. What do you think?

[Edit] Truth be told, I got my 'inspiration' from this current WordPress theme competition.

One potential problem with that is that if we got Matmi or even Badim to do it they would still most likely want to be paid for it. It cost money to get the graphics made and between 2-6 weeks for a game to be made. So the game would probably have to have Mochi, GameJacket, or some other form of paid ad in it. And I know that many people on this forums would not like that.

What if we put a Dogme 95 twist on it and applied obstructions to the game proposals?

One obstruction could be: a game without graphics

So a blank screen where you just click as many times as possible??? I am not sure that would be worth competing for. lol.

Well, if it's a TalkArcades competition, talkarcades could fund the project (if Mark liked the idea) or some other arcade service might be interested in providing the contest.

Ya'll are coming up with great ideas.

Hey,

I might be able to offer something but the honest truth is that I'm not here to spend alot of time giving TalkArcades (owner of FunKlicks) more publicity.
Alot of active users here are exchange owners and handing users over to the competition doesn't sound too sweet.

In general I'm not sure if the majority of TA'ers would be into this.

Regards,

That's interesting, and to think that during all this time I had no idea that TA owned FunKlicks and it was right there under my nose. Not that it's a bad thing, but it now makes me think twice about what I post here.

I do see your point and I should have done my homework on this one.

Ok so a new question: is there a decent arcade forum that doesn't have an ulterior motive a part from...well being an arcade forum?
