Sly5.net is ready for lift off!

Hi all,

So I've had the domain name sly5.net for about 2 months now and installed PHPAS on it about 1 1/2 months ago. Since then it has been pretty much lying dormant as I waited to find the right person to help me mod the site.

I'm pleased to say that the initital modding stage is now complete and I'm finally ready to give sly5 it's official public launch!

Of course there's a lot more to be done before I can call it fully complete but as it stands it's ready for promotion, ready for link trading and ready for new members!

The months ahead are going to be interesting in terms of making the site grow. I should remind you that this is my first arcade, so I've been learning all this (like most people here) on the fly. TA continues to be a huge help along this steep learning curve.

So thanks to everyone here for being pretty effing awesome and let the good times roll baby!

@peter_anderson: Yeah I was worried about load times. Pretty graphic heavy. I might have to think about getting rid of some of the larger graphics.

Just out of interest, compared to your arcade webgamesnetwork, how much longer does sly5 take to load for you?

Webgamesnetwork takes just under 10 seconds to fully render for me.

Thanks for the speed tests guys, looks like I've got myself a lagger....perhaps my 'launch' was all too soon. Clearly I'm going to have to find ways of reducing load times. Long load times is a big visitor turn off.

Yeah, the background image's size is unnecessary. 1024x768 image is pretty big.. It's 258kb.

Yeah the bg and header images are hosted on flickr but I agree it's still overkill given that arcade sites are 70 percent game images. I'll see if I can chop it up.
