Anyone want to make an arcade script?
The title says it all. Is anyone interested in making an arcade script? I can't code PHP but I can design well and can code designs as well. Anybody interested that can code PHP?

I have one half coded. Im just in neurtral at the minute, need to knock it up a gear.

OS i great, although it opens up a wide variety of vuneranabilities, and compaies make low ammount of money, and usualy have to charge extra for support to cover server costs.

Nah, just use the open source script to setup arcades and boom you have your revenue. Plus, a few "enterprise" level arcade script owners that I know about already charge for support.
and security holes come from sloppy coding practices, insurce code, not from open source code entirely, you have to look at the coders that are coding the script not cause it is open sourced. |

Same. Like I said OS is great, but how long will the project last without any income, or rather how long will you be bothered to give support to people, provide patches, updates and mods with no revenue?
OS is good if you do what invision did. You say you will make money from opening an arcade, but having a high profit arcade, to cover your costs, and scripts server costs WILL be increasingly hard to do considering all arcades our already, plus new sales from them, but even worse flooding the arcade market with your own OS script. Good Luck. I agree vulnerabilities are due to "sloppy coding" although you have vulnerabilities in IPB, vBulletin for example. They make lots of money, and expert coders but they still have vulnerabilities. Your OS script is not only coded by people who gain nothing in return, apart from an arcade, and don’t pay for people to check coding. Worst of all its open, so hackers can easily identify a venerable file and exploit it. ------------- Good luck with your script, OS is good because sometimes they get good coders using the script, who develop great and different mods. Although then again who has the best mods phpbb or vbulletin. |
