The Adsense Tips Thread...
Ok why am I starting this thread? A: I just don't understand why people are still getting those crappy .01c clicks and I want to express my ways that I have pushed my earnings up with adsense only..

Im also going to tell you about another experiement I am doing which I think is going to work great..later on down this post...

Here is a snap shot of yesterdays earnings certian info has been smudged to avoid going against Adsense TOS...

This is from 4 arcade sites. To my knowledge im not doing any dodgy or blackhat stuff just good old think out side the box (think smarter) methods.

The aim of this is to help others with their adsense earnings and hopefully encourage others to express their tips.

Im not to sure how this will work with people who add gamepacks to their site , I have just uploaded a game pack on my aussie site www.spoto.com.au and im going to test things out on duplicate content.

My other sites have unique content and descriptions 1 site is niche targeted and ranks very well for the keywords i chase.

My Steps for planning a site..
When I first plan a site I think of a few things

How the layout/design is going to look
How my users are going to benifit from my site
Ad positions
How can i keep them on my site longer and if not how can i make them leave my site by clicking on an ad
what keywords /niche am i going to target

1. For the layout I always put my users first and make it as easy to get around my site as possible. Yeah flashy colorful sites look awesome and have thier benifits but I always think of sites like Youtube and Google sites how easy they are to navigate. Like I said I want people to either stay on my site or leave by clicking on an ad or banner.

2. I think of how my users are going to enjoy the time on my site and 1 thing I like is larger game sizes, easy navigation, really cool games and just ease of use. I also like to add some kind of widget or feature where the user can interact.

3. If you have a nice clean design it is very easy to make ads stand out or be more visable. When i design a site I always think where the best and most visable spots are going to be for my ads. Like the pros of adsense always say above the fold is best , this is very true.

Visitors stroll not scroll and when they do scroll they dont scroll to far. Keep them close to the game file or very close to the main content of your site.
I like placing ads above the game using a 300x250 ad and align the game description to the right.

4. Keeping your visitors on your site i think is important and its always good to see them clicking through your site visiting more than 1 page other than the home page. But if you position those ads right you will get people leaving your site via the ad which is a bonus also..

5. What Niche or keywords to target? The most profitable is ideal. This is what i look for when i talk about keywords and I dont only look at keywords for SEO.

Keywords and Advertisers
BIG TIP : Think like an advertiser, not a publisher first.
When I brainstorm I think, "what kind of game or keyword is going to profit the most" I also try and think of what I would use if I where advertising a product.
example : Fishing Games
This is a great niche and keyword - why because there is a strong market online for fishing gear, fishing tackle, rods, reels, lures, clothing and more and when people search for fishing games, they might also be potential shoppers.
I dont stop their though lets look at the term fishing again and think of more ecommerce related terms..

boats, marine, aqueriam, fish food, fish market, fishing books, the list goes on and on.. But people are buying this stuff online and what does that mean - people are selling online there for they are advertising online.

Ok how do we get more ads from google about these products and not show game related ones?? Its tricky but I will show you how.

Before you design your site think about why game related ads are going to show up on your site. Does the url have the keyword games scattered through out, to i have hundreds of games keyword links everywhere, these are some thngs i think about when im making a site.
Here is how I would ideally make a site.

Home page all game related links and topics,links and so on. catagory pages slim it down a little , file/game pages stip the games keyword to a bare minimum. You dont want game related ads showing, thats what will give those anoying 1c clicks

Writing Descriptions
I made a post a few months back about all this but lets recap..When you write descriptions do you write for seo, the user, or for advertisers???

I try and get all 3. It has to make sence, captcher the keywords for the search engines and help adsense bot generate those good ads.

How I write a game description:
Fishing Champ
Grab your fishing gear! its a great day and the fish are on the bite. With your collection of fishing tackle and bait try and hook up a big marlin. Marlin Fishing is great fun and you need a heavy duty reel with a graphite frame that can handle the pressure. Catch as many fish as possible and become the Fishing Champ.

I highlighted money keywords, but you can see thats not a bad description.
This works great if you have a simple game page with no other links, content or few nav links.

Another tip. Before you add a game look up money keywords and serach for products. so e.g - i go to google and look up fishing reel. look to the right hand of google search and find some nice little ads. Look at the ads and analyse what keywords those ads have in them. Heavy Duty Graphite Frame Penn Fishing Reel was one that cought my eye.

These are keywords advertisers are using in their ads. They are the keywords we want in our description.
Also notice I did a little seo and made it all make sence for users to read.

Ad Tweeking
You should test your ads every so often and see what works best. Ad colors, sizes, with border without border try and test. and keep testing.

Although USA traffic and United Kingdom traffic pay far better than most countries you cant leave them out on a limb. There was a recent post a member made asking if they can block certain countries because they pay less.
Big no no...people in other countries dont have to suffer because your not making money from them. their are scripts and ways to show different countries different ads. So if you like you can show relevant affiliate links to china and google adsense to usa what ever.. but put your users first.

More info
Thank god for people using the pregame feature of their script. Because most gamers have come acustome to the pregame page , I get great click thoughs on my game page...Why because I have my ad placed above the fold...and it even looks like a pregame page.

Remember what I said about people not liking to scroll

if they do scroll however there is the game under the description and ad..

check out www.bmxgames1.com and play a game for example..

Stay True
Dont go out and stuff these keywordsin your game descriptions and pages and dont try and target rediculious keywords. Stay true to your users and stay in the guidelines of googles TOS.

Read the TOS and FAQs

Does More Ads Mean More $$$
not always from my testing. I use 1 ad per page on most of my sites. I have tried having 3 ads, 2 ads even tried 3 with ad links.
but I get maximium results with just 1 ad.

The only way you will know if it works on your site is if u test.

test test test test test test test test

and test some more...

Google adsense tags : I have tried them, didnt make much difference for me but you can try them..

What are the big guys doing?
Check out the big sites, these guys more then likely have professionals taking care of their ads and how they generate revenue.
If it works for them it may work for you....

Buying traffic
Where do you send your visitors when you buy traffic? to your home page? Not me, most of my sites dont have ads on the first page.

I send them to the money pages. I choose a few really popular games ,make some banners/ads up for that game, optimise that games description as good as possible and send the visitors there..
traffic traders should do this also or try it if they dont..

last couple of tests that I have done with this, i bought $30 worth of ads and made back my money and a little bit more. Best thing is some of those visitors may come back and I also had some of those visitors visit other sites of mine its a win win for me..

Ultimatly you have to think outside the box and test things out for yourself. do it right and your earnings should double ,triple and yeah hopefully keep from there..

Now around xmas I am budgeting to spend around $5k in advertising , hopefully if all goes well I will tell you how I doubled it, fingers crossed..
I feeel confident I can..

How would you run google adwords and adsense?

Put yourself in the google adwords and adsense teams shoes. They want advertisers to get value for money and they want publishers to get value for publishing and they want your visitors to benifit from the ads they display on your sites.

Its all about helping people solve a solution! and google rock at it, why do they do this? Because it makes them a ton of money. and everyone wins..

Stop everything your doing for 10 minutes. and put yourself in googles shoes. How would you run the business?

Solving Peoples Solutions
Has anyone been to askthebuilder.com ? Tim Carter makes something like $40,000 or more a month from adsense.
He geniunly trys to help people solve a solution. and thats where you make money. Advertisers are doing the same they are putting products online to help people solve a solution. Google being as smart as they are, are displaying the ads related to your site to help people solve their solution.

I will use a an example - remember hurricane Katrina i mean who couldnt. but this guy would have made a stack of money because he was providing those poor people genuine solutions to help solve their problems they had with thier homes(what was left of them) weather it be rebuilding something or from how to prevent damage from flooding or other disasters.

Why did i jus write that? When you write your descriptions we want to solve a solution for someone. In my example game description I used keywords that would hopefully generate ads that provide a solution to a shoppers needs. If they are playing the game say about marlin fishing and they like real life marlin fishing then this person might be looking for heavy duty graphite fishing reels??
Hope Im making sense...?

Lets Try THis
If you know how, make a new emty page. Design the page to look similar to your main design. Have just a link pointing to your home page, find a game that is going to somehow be profitable. You can even try the fishing game.

Now dont have the keyword game or games on it. Write a small article or big description about the game use your noggin and think how your going to get adsense bot to trigger the money keywords. Dont keyword stuff your description just make it make sense and in some kind of way try and help someone solve a solution to a problem.
Link out to a few relaled websites with products for sale eg fishing reels, rods and tackle.

Make a adsense channel and name it test or something and asign it to a new ad block. Place your ad above the fold so its above the game or close to your description and send some traffic to that page.

each week test different ad postions colors and ad blocks. and see if you can get those $$ figures up.

I was thinknig the exact same! Got to the bottom and thought, "to be continued", when will it be, carry on now" lol. I might try buying a domain without the words game in it then, and just rely on backlinks to get higher for game words. If only there was a game about lawyers, finance or insurance, adsense would so rock.

but stay true to the game and dont do anything black hat..keyword stuffing and dodgy tricks will surly look suspicies and may even get you banned..

Also , this is based on my experience and testings your results may differ, im just showing it how it is from what I have done..

Well thanks for your post buddy might be this is gonna help me really to day morning i got each clicks 1cents. but i have more then 300 games already so how can i target the niche, i can do it when i add next games, and one more thing if image ads good or txt?

I have heard Image ads pay lower than Text Ads but Text Ads have a lower CTR!

So it should be equalling out...

You either get high CTR with low cpc or Low CTR with average cpc
