Google has been pretty consistent at paying 78.5% to publishers (source1, source2). Although sometimes it doesnt seem that way. One day I woke up to 100 clicks and revenue of .50 cents.... if the lowest bid is 1 cent then its 50%, but maybe other coutries can bid their lowest denomiation as well, and in that case it could still be around 78.5% due to currency conversion

for germany lowest bid is 1C Euro thats = 1,36C USD so there is a differrence of over 30%, maybe other countries can bid more lower..

For that CTR, it sucks. But overall, not bad.

New York Times has calculated and published the cut that a publisher gets from Google in AdSense program. The calculation was based on Google’s Q3 2005 financial report, and the magical figure is that publishers and partners get 78.5%.
LOL I love how they call this a magical figure. Inspite of this number I am inclined to concur with the theory put forth by uglygit. Google is simply squeezing the network and if memory serves in their Terms of service we all agreed and gave them the power to do so.

This data is based on Quarterly reports almost 4 years old now. Also it speaks to how much Google offers to publishers " as a whole " not broken into any niche or factoring in smart priced sites. As an example Legally every casino in Las Vegas is bound to payout 90% of the total wagers ( this is why professional punters in the states prefer Vegas to some of the Mississippi Casinos ). However in spite of the fact that overall casinos in Las Vegas payout 90% of the wagers it is highly unlikely you can wager $10 - $100 and leave with $90 at the end of doing so. The numbers quoted in the sources offer something on a broad scale but digging deeper they don't answer what share we get of a click as a niche or especially on a site by site basis.

Actually digitali current data supports this source however if you read data reports from previous years you will see the overall growth rate is slowing to a screeching halt over the last five years. The 78% avg figure is drawn from expense reports so we may only be seeing 60% as publishers. Of note this data is also not chunked into one group thats easy to read like publisher commisions, instead its all listed out as different expenses.

Big companies like to confuse the hell out of everybody so their stock will look good.

and FYI, I have no idea what google really pays, every company can hide income in various ways, especially one as large as google. We may all be getting 40% for all I know.

I agree and that was my point they dont show what they are paying arcades just a theory of what they pay publishers based on the expense reports in 2005 , 2006.They can make KeyWords with higher bids and less a supply of traffic get a larger share of the pie (forex ) while at the same time making KW with lower bids but more traffic get a smaller share of the pie ( arcades ). I agreed to the floating commission and it helps Google stay solvent. I want them to keep paying so they got to be solvent it just hurts because of the work we all put into our arcades LOL.

I can promise you that I could rewrite 5 forex articles build a $2 .info site and do some social bookmarking and other web2.0 stuff and make more from adsense in a month than what they are paying the average arcade. That is what makes me think they float the commissions as they see fit based on niches. There business and they are brilliant for setting it up like they have. Google is totally Rothschild all the way.

When you start to drift from 6 clicks upto 600 clicks a day I WILL BET that your
CPC will come down on your arcade in adsense. No matter if every visitor comes from tier 1 traffic. I think you will find that in the best of worlds you will go from the 12.34 cents you are earning now down to about 1.4 - 3 cents per click on average.That is what a lot of guys in this thread are pointing out. Just test it and share your results please
Trung.

@diex
I was oversimplifying the process ( research to capture proper KW etc ) but in general that trick probably work and for any high paying niche. No need to do that man arcades are more fun & DUDE I LOVE that Punk arcade avatar you got. Is that new or am I just old and senile just now noticing it?
