Making right decisions?

So as I read on and on through the masses of banner exchanges I have to ask myself which will benefit me the most. As I look to the past I've used FunClicks, Gamecriteria, arcadebanners, etc, etc. and though they sent me 'some' traffic it was no where near 'benefitial' to me at all.

My site currently has 100+ 'active' members that play daily not including guests! Since my games are free to the public (just no high scores) I believe my site is semi-user friendly and optomized for search engines.

I believe my site will hit a major increase in traffic once everyone's back in school, looking for things to do. I'm on a dedicated server with 15 ip address to prevent blockage. My profits are donated to Wikipedia.org to spread knowledge freely.

I'm looking for other decent arcades to affiliate and exchange links with. BigK Gaming is in the process of making shirts, wrist bands, etc... to help advertise!

I'm pondering what the best route for me migt be to generate more traffic. I've already invested in adwords. That is definately helping a bit but I'm looking for more.

Any suggestions would be great.

Beware the banner exchange traffic as some of it is poor quality.

Adwords or PPC is good. You should get > 5 PV/visitor.

Link trades with small sites if you monitor the traffic.

Check your page views per visitor > 2.5 or you are buying fake traffic.

Hey sounds like you have been really busy. I applaud your efforts to assist in the spreading of information. Here are some thoughts I have on the subjec and feel free to take anything you deem of value and discard the rest.

1. Traffic trading with partner sites: Should you intend on procuring a massive amount of visitors it is a numbers game and you will need to trade traffic well with others. This will cost you nothing but time and the most productive sites on the internet in this niche will build relationships with you ( win win situation ). Only trading with small sites ( I have no Idea why this was suggested ). Trade with anyone that can exchange quality traffic with you in a timely manner.

2. Banner exchanges: I beg to differ with your opinion of banner exchanges. Are they productive yes and no to a degree. Here is the thing you have to develop your site to the point of some sort of critical mass 2 - 5K+ active members and 30 - 50K+ pageviews and then you will have enough data to gather and ascertain if banners are helpful. All exchanges however I must agree with hitsfree ( And how this pains me so LOL) are not alike. Stay with reputable exchanges with good Customer service and good CTR

These are a few names I have personally used with FK and Gamecetera having been used by myself extensively. You don't need or want many and you eliminate the potential of bad traffic while increasing your arcades reach just by using some of the more active exchanges.

3. Adwords: I am the biggest fan of this service but if you are not prepared to strategically lay out a campaign there the numbers will quickly get ahead of you and it will likely be unprofitable for your business in this niche. Please understand I am not trying to be derogatory here and not reflecting on your personal abilities at all ( this is not your fault or anyone elses ). The big problem is that arcades have kind of a bad reputation in Big G's eyes I believe and it is hard to setup any arbitrage because Big G is not willing to pay you very much for your traffic.

4. Time on site pageviews: Gather data from about 5 - 10,000 visits and then look at time on site, page views bounce rates etc.. if your records are not looking good. What 80% of the guys running arcades will do is cry " Fake or poor Traffic ". Understand you will get some poor traffic in any niche just like some bad days in any life but if you have enough data it is likely that all of the traffic cant be so bad. Instead take ownership of your project and love your site or business like you would your child and ask yourself what can you do to improve your site and gather more interests from visitors.

HINT: I know I will offend some by saying this but the answer in my opinion is NOT JUST coming in this or any other arcade related forum and asking other webmasters what they think of your site. Because webmasters are webmasters and look at sites through the trained eye of a webmaster. Instead gather feedback from patrons and develop based on that feedback you get and if done properly you might have a site some webmasters want understand but most patrons will enjoy.

LOL Fahd been complaining about my post now for almost a year but reads them anyway. Git good one about summary dude and you got me there LOL. Anyway if my posts are bigger than you gents that is no reason to complain size doesn't matter .

Oh and I definitely second the exec summary idea just as long as the summary won't end up being longer than the actual post.
