Default Need to sort newest games by date added

I have a script that makes an inactive game active every day but the newest games section on my site doesn't sort it right.

Is there a way to make the date added something like "YYYY/MM/DD"? I think that would do it, but I am not great with PHP functions so I don't know how to do it.

Woochoochinchilla,

What script?

If it is phpas it defaults to gameid, you just need to change it to dateadded.

But the dateadded field field must be populated.

I have a complete mod for phpas that does it all including generating a new sitemap, and then autopinging google. if you would be interested. It is awesome and so complete...

Yes it is phpAS.

Is your MOD free? Because I just spend all my money sponsoring games. Also I don't really want to pay. I think all I need is to know the PHP way of making the date show like this "YYYY/MM/DD".

I believe curdate() will return a format close to what you are looking for(yyyy-mm-dd). However, I personaly would rather have time() as it returns the time down to a second. If you update 4 on the same day, time() would return a little more precise value(assuming they are done spaced at least 1 second apart), where as curdate() returns the same value for them all.

The script that I have that adds them is made in perl/cgi. I for some reason when I add localtime(time) to the MySQL update it come out as "0". But when I print it it is fine. I am going to try gmtime() as soon as my sites are back up.

Oops. You're on your own then as I have no knowlege of PERL. I was assuming PHP was the language of choice in this case. Sorry bout that, I really should learn it one of these decades.

Problem solved.

I couldn't figure out how to get the date to work so I converted my script into PHP. I just added a new game and will be adding some more to make the 10 listed actually new.
