Glad I can provide entertainment for you supernova even if this is like some springer for arcade webmasters. Maybe Hans will come back here and point out some more bugs that he knew was in his script but he decided to sell anyway ( assuming it was his original code ) and not buggy open source. After all pointing out to potential customers how you sold them buggy software for their hard earned money in a public forum is always good for business LOL.

im not on any side....but digitali hans isnt saying you owe him a license because of coding specifically....its the fact that the code is literally exactly the same...both on the users end (text) and the inside....Im not on anyones side...im just saying...and I realize you have things that are different, its just the things that aren't....they aren't similar...every aspect of them are exactly the same aside from color, the font, the size, the placement, the text itself has no variation what so ever.

this is why hans isn't backing down i think...

ryan1212 I appreciate your comments but the code under the hood is simply not the same. The similarity is only due to the fact that both are programmed in PHP and some basic functions are the same. We really have changed 90% of the script and Hans himself admits it was full of bugs when he sold it. Now if the text is the same well then what do you call action games? racing games? BTW we have weird games and dressup games and I don't see those. Our script was light years different and our site is down now so I am only referencing things that are similar.

Also you will note that Hans is not responding at all to comments regarding opensource code. The question when dealing with copyrights is weather Hans himself used 70%+ opensource code to do his original script. Considering that he was a beginner just 2 years ago and my brother has looked at some of the code he can tell you better than I that this is exactly the case. BTW I have no way of validating anything because there is not one reference to onarcade in what I purchased. I have been here 8 months and this is the absolute first time I have heard anything about this. There are so many different features on our site now that comparing it to onarcade1.0 is apples and oranges. There are tons of things I still have not mentioned.

yeah im not getting into it lol I dont know anything about scripting or coding, im just stating what it looks like from someones perspective who has no idea what theyre looking at other than the fact that some of it looks the same.

Show Hans proof that you bought it off of ebay...then maybe he can go after the person that sold it to you instead.

Digital16, I guess the best thing to do is pay this guy some money so you can get your site back....obviously that's what the guy is after. Maybe you were sold a bunk copy of his script and you were not aware of it....so time to suck it up and pay the piper....what else ya gonna do? No matter where you move he'll probably keep shutting you down. I'm sure his trolls will be on ya like fly on poo.

Don't you dare pay Hans any money unless he can provide you with some inside proof this is his script.
Like did he use some uncommon names for vars.
The similar images and fonts, and even styles cannot be upheld in a court of law, images like the default avatar are near impossible to prove authorship, but the unseen code can.

However even if it is his code, AND based on an outdated script, he should give you a pass, or at least a DEEP discount. As your not using his 2.0 code and any fault by yourself was unintentional as you purchased this site in good faith.

And to think I was about to buy OnArcade for my new Arcade, but I don't deal well with petty BS. Now I am back to square one. PHP AS was not updated when sold as in the auction description when Scott sold it, and Rick and Brian are just going to run it into the ground.

Anyone Like the new GSS? Whoops I am threadjacking... NM just pm it to me if you like GSS.

I wish you good luck on this Alfred so we can get back to trading as usual.

The Ebay auction is so old now that it is no longer there. Again I have been in this forum now for quite some time and never contacted on this. Did any of you guys ever think that maybe hans waited patiently until my site is now getting well established with a PR3 and 1400 active members + weekly alexa of 119K and then expect me to pay up just to get him out my hair?

I am sorry but I don't see where I owe hans anything and I have filed a counter claim to that effect. I have the code to back up that it is simply not the same as his basic script with bugs that even he admits. Yes 90% recoding is what we claim but we intended on using the script as is and later found SEVERAL flaws and one thing leads to another and that is how we ended up rewriting so much. I am losing money right now and valuable time and I have no problem paying for code that saves us time or any good service.

and the gentleman who wrote the video script that we added to Gubug. We GLADLY paid for these services and software and countless others. I will not pay a man for work he did not do and I know some want understand it but it is a matter of principal for me firstly and secondly
we are running a BUSINESS and over the next few years I plan on living off this. I don't
pull out my wallet in my business for buggy 2 year old code from someone I never heard
anything from until now. This is a petty issue that probably cost Hans more than he will
realize in the long run. I treat people very fair so I sleep good at night and I have our
code that under the hood and even visually at this point you can see is QUITE different
than anything in that version 1.0 software Hans is referencing.

I must say I am very disappointed in Hans. What I see when reading his posts in this thread is a stubborn kid trying not to be found out fool for shutting down a site that did nothing wrong.

I believe that legally all crimes that occur as a direct result of an illegal scam are the fault of the scammer, not the scammed. Both Hans and Alfred are victims here. But now seeing that Hans lost only ~$70 and Alfred and his brother lost the last 8 months of working on modding, promoting, and paying probably much more than $70 on advertising I think that Hans owes Alfred and his brother a public apology for such a disturbance.
