Thumbs up Guide: How to find sites to buy banners on

This will be a short and sweet one

First, surf the forums. Digital Point, Talk Arcades, DNforums, NamePros, etc and search for ad spots on arcades. Go with 100x100 and don't waste you time with text links. Request real stats before you buy and buy cheap.

I had PR6 on my arcade and never got any play from the search engines....personally I don't think that anyone searches for arcades on search engines. The users I talk to just go by word of mouth or jump from site to site by banners. I wouldn't waste any time on SEO.

The absolute best source is to hit the streets and email large arcades and ask them for spots. They aren't advertising a spot for sale so chances are you will get them much cheaper with no one competing for it. My best sources were found by looking. Top sites are great ways to find the bigger arcades.

Lastly...the absolute best way is the stats tracking sites. You can go look under game categories and find the gaming / video sites that have the largest traffic...then email them. Some stats sites even show you where the site itself is getting traffic from!! This is awesome because you can utilize that arcades source of traffic by going to them directly!!

Hope this helps.

ok, I'm confused. What do you mean by the stats tracking sites and looking at the larger traffic that is shows?

Masterstats Extreme tracking, etc. They not only shows real stats on the site they track but they categorize them too. Just go under games and find the largest arcades.

I would really like to disagree with you about SEO, one of my arcade sites get 4000 visitors per day from google and are not even in the top 3 yet, another gets 3000, you just need to find the correct keywords to use. You will not get better traffic then organic search engine traffic.

Anyway when i purchase 100x100 banners on sites, i always ask if they could put a small text link below the banner that include my keywords and link it to my site, normally they will not charge you extra for this ( it's just a small text link, and many of the banner exchanges also have a text link below the baner, so it looks fine ).

Also when you purchase a 100x100 banner on a site, remember to get the ALT tag set with your keywords, this also do not cost you anything.

best regards Preben Eriksen,

how long did it take you to get "good enough" results in google for 3k to come in?
i assume you targeted lesser known search terms.
