Cool Does ".com" Matter?

I am going to make two more arcade sites. One based around bigfishgames and another based around a certain online game niche. I have found some great domains, but the ".com" form is not available. I could get ".net" or ".org" if I wanted, but are those really good? I have heard not to get a .net domain name because people will always type in yoursite.com. Are ".com" domains better for SEO? What would you suggest I do?

I would go with .com over anything else. It's pretty much the standard in todays world.

I got a bunch of nice domain ideas, but they are .net, if the .com is an establish site don't waste time with the .net and other extensions.

And domain extension doesn't matter for seo.

By default your average person would try the .com first if no luck then google the site then find it that way, So its recommended to gain the .com first than any other TLD extention.

As said before, if the .com is available you definitely want that, however there is no advantage of a .com over a .net or .org when trying to rank the domains in a search engine like Google.

.com is default for any browser and some browsers even add a .com at the end of a URL if you forget to type it I actually suggest you focusing on one site first rather than opening more. My team and I own like 4-5 different sites, but we dropped all of them to focus on one. I say this because I've been reading your threads and what you have to say. If you go back to it, you would see the question and the answer (here) to your problem. Hope that helps you.

btw, I didn't get that e-mail yet :P

I know that it IS better to focus on one site, but I just have soooo much time on my hands now that my sports season is coming to an end. I will have nothing to fill the end of my days. There is only so much you can do to one site in a day. Sometimes I just post on this forum and others when I'm bored (you all can see how that turned out).

I'm going to open a site in different niches which I think will be beneficial to me because I will get a lot of search engine traffic with the optimization I plan for. Thank you for your concern though.

Default ...net

I had to go with .net because .com was taken but not built. I have not had any problems.. of course you aways wonder.., what if you hit it big at the .com trys to move in on you.. I dont think thats likely.. If you built up your name on content, im not sure how much another site could move in on you.. If given the choice I would have went with the .com of course.

I think the answer depends on how you can work your site. Work your site hard enough and you can use any extension ( No SEO benefits ). However certainly if you get a site to a certain point and someone is sitting on a .com for that name I bet they can sell it for a good profit to a domain investor but money makes the world go round and you will never plug every leak when it comes to money. Have fun and build your sites the best you can and work as hard as you can that is what I try to do.

i don't think your font is big enough.

i go with .com and .net second.
now days it's hard finding the right domain.when i go searching,%75 of the domains will be parked.
the TLD does affect seo if it is a TLD of a country.
