I didn't think you meant me - your post was clear. You know - just adding a few more cents to the discussion....
Obviously this is a discussion that never ends - as new webmasters introduce sites - existing ones try and figure out how to grow....so I was just trying to throw some new perspectives around - because honestly if all the upcoming webmasters chase around the same keywords and focus on page rank - no one will win. :-) |

There isn't one clear answer to your question.
Why do some businesses fail and others flourish? You asked in your initial post, 'What am I doing wrong?' Allow me to be objective and blunt. Your site design is just about as bad as it could possibly be. To add insult to injury, you top it off with 2 popup ads that try and load when I hit the site. Now, if you're running the site as a hobby and it's just for you to have a place of your own to play games, great. But if this is a business, you have to treat it like one. You don't have a product to sell. Until you do, you're wasting your time trying to make anything out of it. You are also wasting your time comparing alexa stats with other sites. That will not help you. Find arcades under 10k alexa - study their sites - ask yourself what is different about them. What are they doing? How do they get so much traffic? You probably can't bite off going after search traffic, referral traffic, direct traffic, game sponsored traffic, paid traffic etc all at once. Pick one that you think you can do well on right now and focus on that. Become an expert in that area. Then move on and focus on something else. If you try to do it all at once with nobody helping you, you'll do all of them poorly and be just one of the other hundreds of thousands of sites on the internet wondering why they can't be a success. Action step 1 - build and design a site that is awesome. Forget about everything else until that is done. You wouldn't build a house without a foundation. Don't build your business until you have a product to sell. |
