I'll run that other site for you

EDIT:

FreeGamesOnline

They still actually have a decent amount of backlinks but not as big as FOG
Yeah, freegamesonline is big compared to me :P Not as big as FOG but still, you've got to set at least somewhat reachable goals

It depends. Are your games well-spread through the internet?

I mean bloons is a goldmine but regular games, not so much.

Yeah, I believe that's the problem. I'm not a good enough developer to make something like Bloons.

The key here is not just keywords and pageranks.....some of the most profitable and fastest growing sites do not even register for the search terms this thread is describing. Affinity is the holy grail you are all looking for.

I see a few people posting here who I know can drive traffic. But converting that traffic to addicted site users - better yet - emphatic site advocates - is the way to that traffic. Keeping a visitor that falls upon your site is far more valuable than getting a couple more to hit it - because he/she tells people - and when they all come back - well now you have real traffic.

If you can't drive a few thousand people a day to your site then you aren't trying. Getting them to come back tomorrow on their own is another story.

Better to drive a few hundred and capture them forever.

Hmm. Interesting.

My question to everyone is (this is not aimed at ANYONE who has posted here) how come everyone and their grandma seem to know the "secret" to popular sites yet the people who actually have the popular sites never talk in detail?

I don't think everyone and their grandma do - I do not. I have a strategy and time will tell. Those that claim to know all.....well you already sort of finished that thought.

My comments were my own opinions constructed from experience. Many people gave me ideas since I have been doing this - perhaps not answers always - but ideas.

Find a source to emulate - ascend - then beat it!

:-)
