Default A Starters Guide to Making Your Site a Success!

Lets get something straight, for those that have said.

"I think I'm going to start a (#*(# website today."

You guys need to think long and hard before investing that $10 in that domain of your choosing, and here is why.

Sites take not days, not weeks, but months and even years to become noticed on the internet.

You need to go ahead and set a strategy for your new business, when I say strategy I mean you need to.

A.) Come up with the products that you are going to give/sell/trade/offer to your customers. even if what you offering games, which I assume you are.

If what you are offering is free you need to find away to offset your cost, (if you lose money there is no sense in having that site, unless you love wasting money, unless its like a hobby or something.)

B.) DO NOT EXPECT TO MAKE HUNDRES or THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS within the first month of starting your site. This is a main reason why sites fail the owner doesnt think he/she is making a lot of money and gets upset and starts to not care anymore. ( I promise if you stick with it no matter how stupid or crazy it is what you are doing your going to make money)

Here are a few good tips to use when planning your business struture

Ask yourself this, "How much money do I want to make"

If your answer is reasonable, and not millions, and millions you can make your goal a reality no matter what it is you offer. Whether your product is free or not ( Thank You Advertisments)

After you decided how much money you are going to want to make you have to come up with a product.

- When coming up with a product make sure it is something that you are going to want to use. If you are just doing it because the internet says its hot, doesnt mean you should go into develop mode and start to code your a## off. or even worse pay someone to do it.

Remember trends change, big time. I would look at smaller websites that are starting to get more attention. ( Look on Alexa at the home page sites where the show a couple sites comparing ) these are the sites that have seen a lot of activity within the last update.

I know I'm jumping but with advertisments, I wouldn't bombard users with them, this just means that your just trying to make a quick buck, and you care nothing about the consumer. Ask your self do I like 20 pop ups? the answer is no. so if you wouldnt want to see them then dont display them. one pop-up is okay, after all. if your service is free, most users will just close it out, or even click on it.

If your site does become big, and starts to grab revenue offer people rewards, like ( Play 1000 games and enter for a chance to win PS3 ) now the truth is, and I know this sounds bad. but if you do not have any money and you want to grab some visitors you can always give away small incentives. $5.00 is a lot of money to a 13 year old. ( not really ) but it will be better than playing games and getting nothing out of it. and the thing is if he/she plays 1000 games thats 1000 page impressons on your advertisments for just one user! you dont have to give all the users the money you can just have a random winner per week, now 1000 games in a week is a lot i was just using that as example, make realistic goals, also buy stuff in bulk (pens, hats, shirts ) and give those as your prizes 100 pens = 20.00 and plus your logo is on it. one pen a week isnt that bad. and plus it makes it seem cool that your actually getting something out of playing games.

more soon.

Very great read It's absolutely true that everything takes time and nothing can earn you money instantly. I was in the blogging business for a year and wow did I see a lot of new bloggers just pop out trying to make money. They're all gone now, lol.

Awesome post! I wish everyone starting any kind of site would read it and take it to heart. You do have to have a long term business plan along with some short term goals. This is what I wish more websites would consider.
