During the last automated sale, there were about 15 advertisers that were all at the FK site refreshing and watching the countdown, waiting for the chance to buy 1 package. The initial price was set at $0.03, which wasn't really expected to be a real price, but rather a starting point so that buyers would wait and watch until the price became reasonable to them for purchase. But one advertiser apparently didn't read the instructions or the price very well, as they instantly made a $3000 order as soon as the auction opened. The problem is that they didn't know what they were doing, and didn't follow thru with the purchase. So basically about 14 people waited and watched and gathered together for nothing. I knew right there that the system that I had was not working and advertisers were getting frustrated.

At that point I was ready to sell some advertising, and there were a ton of advertisers ready to buy, so I canceled the automated system and requested bids and got some advertising sold. Of course there is a limited supply and I'm not able to fully sell the $xx,xxx worth of advertising bids that have been submitted.

Many advertisers prefer the bid system over the automated system as they are busy and don't have time to wait and watch and try to catch an auction with only a slim chance of winning due to demand. Some advertisers prefer an automated system.

I've learned many things about my advertisers and their needs from handling the bids and orders manually that I would like to roll into a new automated or semi-automated system in the future.

Mark you provide a great service and I don't have a problem with buying from manual or auction or automated. There is a cost to run a business online and sometimes it is money and sometimes it is your time as an entrepreneur. You will NEVER make every advertiser happy no matter what you do but for me the bottom line is your traffic is very effective. What ever you decide you have my 100% support and until someone has ran similar established businesses online they cant completely understand the complexities of the matter.

A system like AdToll's RON ad purchaser would do good

Yep I was frustrated near the end of the old system too, because traffic wasn't available to buy for days. I don't like emailing bids because it's just too secretive and I imagine webmasters with deeper pockets than mine are buying it all up. It seems like this is just another sign of the overcrowded market and that traffic is a bit harder to get(or more expensive)
