Need alot of consideration guys... Help?
Hey everyone,
Now i know im getting better and improving my skills on templates and designs ect... Now heres the thing... Should i go from doing phpas templates as standards to more diffrent scripts such as... Arcadem Pro GameScript OnArcade GameSiteScript AV Arcade Should i go private with my work or should i open a site for everyone and let everyone buy my designs and such in the process losing the standards of my custom unique view apon every site... I Seriously don't know really.. I mean i make a good amount for doing custom work alone prehaps if i opened a custom site but did diffrent things for diffrent standards... I mean jez i only ask around $70-120 for my work at most times. Which fair enough would really cost you $300-400 if i became a ass like what all custom template makers did... Im just really confused right now on wtf to do here... Im looking for something but i can't find that something atm... Anybody got good suggestions at all as i really need some? |

Hey Antz,
If you've been in communication with some script owners and have some standing on the script forums, at this point I would open your own site that you can promote on all the forums. It's easyier to send people to one main site than trying to do everything through PM's, etc. I wouldn't worry about unique designs. Just do it like template monster does and offer a price to take it off the market and not sell it again and a cheaper price for say a max of 5 templates sold. The cheaper price would be very popular. Cheap arcade webmasters  Let me know if you want a hand with it.

i agree with messa, I would open up my own site and sell templates like hes talking about, could always offer unique template design as well and provide a portfolio of your past template designs, best of both worlds.

Ask yourself, what's it going to hurt to branch out into other scripts? If you feel it will in fact be detrimental to your coding of PHPAS, then don't. If you don't feel like it will hurt that, why not? I do know that doing others might help learn new things. I also know that specializing can help you get very very good at a more narrow selection of things.
An idea is to do both custom templates, and open to everybody templates. Meaning sell some of them to anybody who wants it, and do some as unique, at a greater price. There are others who do the same thing, and use the non custom ones as advertising to get the gravey jobs. If you start to think it's not what you want to do, you can always stop. In fact you could set it up so that others could start selling templates through your website at that point, and get paid commisions on their sales. I know that if I had the money to get into it, I would start hiring you to code me a few that I could resell myself lol. You do good work. But do you have the time and desire to do it? What would you like to do? Look at your long range goals and ask if doing so fits in with them, or detours you away from them.

i agree with brend here, very good way to look at it, if youve got the skills, what could it hurt to give it a shot? if you dont like it you can always get out, there are many exit plans you can have and plenty that would probably actually be quite profitable for you as well let alone just getting back a bit of what you paid to start up
