Not true, google has no preference on domain extension. Id still say .com but my reason would be that it will receive more type-in traffic then .net because people are more familiar with it.

I meant because they are usually older than the .net ones

.com on all accounts because if someone doesn't know the domain extension like if someone had just told someone about yahoo but only dropped the keyword in the conversation then 99.99%* of the time the first thing they would try is .com. Also there are more registered .com domains then all others put together. It's just that were conditioned by the large quantity of .com domains.

*note this is a fake statistic but I honestly believe if you did a study research study at least 90% would try .com first.

Also .com seems to look more "professional" don't know why.

no, I'd just use google to track your site down - if we met in the street, well on opposite sides of a street, and you happened to yell "rickyg" to me that is...

Fingermonkey you good with starting great threads dude atleast the beefy ones that I like. I would choose .com or net or even an info depending on the situation. I am trying to look at sites like investments that will grow over time and in that respect the .com will almost always fetch you more resell value. I bought gubug.com because it was a 5 letter .com and there is a limited supply of 5L pronounceable .com out there. When I sell it there will be even less so there fore in that case I vote for the dot com.

I would gladly by a .net with traffic targeted to entertainment and redirect it to gubug. and I would gladly purchase a boatload of cheap .info sites to throw some stuff up on like blogs or various feeder sites etc.. where I would need to buy such sites in bulk and the purpose is not to resell later at a high value.

I think a lot of us would go to google and type in rickyg and see what pops up. To me what a lot of us would do can be deceptive because we visit our sites as webmasters and it is better to think of how guys use your site as an average joe. Average joe would go type in rickyg.com and I used to work for verizon online and take 500+ calls a day. Trust me most guys believe the entire internet ends in .com sadly 30% cant even set their homepage.
