I am going to agree with everyone else in the fact that a .com would most likely bring in more traffic than a .net.

DIG....16 - That is waht my point was. The average person only knows of COM. As them to name some of the TLD's and they might get US and net.

The general consensus is quite clear. It's .com or die. Thanks for all the input folks.

The reason I posted this thread is because I recently bought a 4 letter domain name. After getting over the initial shock of finding a readable 4 letter domain, I then discovered that the .com had been snapped up already but that the .net .info .us and .org were still available. After some deliberation I decided to go with it and bought all domains for under $30. The .net will be the TLD and all others will redirect to it.

Dont expect a 4 letter net to gain value fast. 3 letters nets havent been doing well.

Ah RickyG you're a tough cookie and I heed your skepticism. But let me clarify, the only reason I bought the domain was because it was the name I actually had in mind for a new project, not because I was trawling godaddy for 3 or 4 letter domain names. That it's a short domain is just an added bonus.

I'm hoping that the combination of solid content, a custom logo + design and a short domain name will stand this new site in good stead, but then again anything can happen on the Web, it could all just go tits up. Gotta try stuff out.

P.s. Strictly speaking it's an LLLN, I'll show you guys once the foundations are up.

RickyG you one funny guy dude. I swear arcades are hard and sometimes coming here for humor is great. Fingermonkey I can't wait to sneak a peak at your project dude cause you very analytical like me. I was trying to enphasize RickyG point earlier ( so yeah U right Ricky ) but to me if all else fails then get something you can use and build. I am glad I got gubug and every day we do something to shape things up a bit there. I bought that name after visiting mibbi and getting the idea for an arcade that could grow into more of an entertainment site. I hope to sell in 5 - 10 years for a cool million and then me and my bro will get us some island somewhere and live out our old age. Man I thought Jack had found a real pic of mibbi but I was like what a wild get up. Happy mem day to you guys.
