I have seen people sponsering games for 2000$ and stuff why do you think they are?

Is it for traffic?

I find it very difficult to believe that you actually get $2000 worth of value out of the traffic and brand awareness. That I would not expect to appear until you have 10+ good quality sponsored games on 100+ arcade sites but then you would have to ask is that worth $20,000+? Well if you have a site that's profits paid for those games then of course it is.

If you have the time and interest I would save a few bob and just buy flash CS3 Professional http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/ and learn to make my own although that depends on the aim of your site because while sponsoring games would be more expensive it would also be quicker then making your own.

While the game maybe of good quality the question is will it be of good value?

Just think of other ways $2000 could help your site. Get a redesign, custom coded script,
seo optimisation, Quality brandable domain, unique features, marketing budget.

I think there are better ways you could invest $2k and wouldn't sponsor a game until those methods had been exhausted.

i agree with you hawkal but still people are sponsering games for 2k$ and probably it is because they have already optimize their site in all the ways possible and this might be a good way to get visitors.. and also if it is a good game then mochiads =)

@booty just saw your site is sponsering games for upto 2k$ is it true? can you answer hawkals question?

I wouldn't sponser a game unless I knew it would be a classic not just a fly by night but something people will still be searching for a year later. You can probably sponser cheap flyshit, but then again if the game is crap your brand/website gets associated with the crap.

I will contribute my experiences.

I sponsored Star Ship by Badim for $450 plus $50 wire transfer fee and on it's best week sent me a few thousand UV per day extra than what I already had. Then it slowed to 1000 per day, 800, 500,than about 1.5 months later it sent me only 200 per day.

Before the game's traffic I had 700-1200 UV per day and was making $95 per month. The month before releasing it I had 16,530 UV total. In the month I release the game I had 38,788 UV. And only about 3,000 UV or less were from the 2 much, much smaller games I release that month.

The month I release the game I made about $185. After the first month the traffic from the game was only 10-20% what it was earlier. But the second month I ended up with 34,032 UV. Only a little less then when the game was new. That was because the game effectively spread the word about my site and my direct visits skyrocketed.

Over all I would say I made more than my money back and the game is still out there. Every once and a while it will get stumbled on another site or 2 and bring some nice hits for a few days. Yes it took a while to make the money back but it was worth it and a very educational experience.
