Why open a proxy site?

Hallo,
I was just wondering why most webmasters open up there own proxy sites?
Is there a good reason for it earning wise or is it just to fill in the domain name?

Some detailed info would be nice thanks

Hi,

You've got to really know what you're up against before you try it. Most people who try proxies have bad experiences.
Just one site could potentially consumre a large server along with many other things to consider such as your adsense account getting banned.

I wouldn't suggest it if you can't afford to buy a server just for the proxy sites and aren't going to take it seriously.

Hallo messa,
I was looking for a webmaster's reason for creating a proxy based site. But that is a good tip i guess highly recommeded.

I just see so many opening and selling i was wanting some information into why they even run them anyway is there a earning prospect or is it something else?

Hey,

I happen to have a few.
I wouldn't be supprised if you've been to a few of them.

My reason is profit. Which is more or less the same for others except that most think it's going to be easier than it really is.

So what does the proxy script effect most CPU or RAM? Or both? give a ruff est give or take..

They use alot of both and bandwidth too. How much will depend on how much traffic they're getting.

Make sure you have a good bit of overhead if you're going to try. They can fluxuate quickly.

ok yea if i do open one which i properly woulded as i don't see a good point in having one lol.. i'll keep your guided information in mind at all times when opening one. (Seriously im not touching one lol)

Profit from Proxy?...ZERO or close to it.

Reasons why they have one? It is so the kids can go around the blocks at school n such

Like Messa said...it is a server resource and if it gets discovered...it is used for spam, warez, hacking, and the list ges on.

DONT DO IT!

PS...When I had all of my servers I wouldnt allow any on the servers. When I did at the begining, I had to deal with the server farm threatning to shut it down due the above reasons.

They can also lead to legal problems if somebody uses them to scam places like paypal, ebay, etc.

Thanks guys for the input on this subject its abit clear now what they are like now.

Evilfurby i agree with you on that im not opening one i was just wanting some resourceful information but that is a good point as it may lead to mis-use acts and woulded look good for my clean record.. (Yes its clean surpised much?)
