Do you give away prizes?

Hey Everyone,

Have you given away prizes at your arcade site? For the pass few nights I have been picking games for visitors to play and I have been giving out domain names.

The last domain that i gave out yesterday night was noarcade.com to anyone that could beat my score in sling shot santa. My score was 337.7 and someone beat me with a score of 350

I give out prizes to my users all the time. I've given away Amazon Gift Certificates, DVD's, 3 Mini RC Helicopters and I am currently running a contest giving away a Nintendo DS gaming bundle to my lucky 1,000,000 player. Until recently I was paying for the contests out of pocket but for the latest contest I actually found someone to sponsor it. In fact they have even approached me about possibly doing a Wii next

I think you have the right idea giving away prizes but I think domain names are probably the wrong kind of prizes. The majority of your audience is probably in their teens and won't have much use for them. The one thing you must do for any contest is make sure that they are required to register to participate. That way you at least get some more signups.

yeah,a game or dvd is better.your visters are not webmasters.

i wouldn't run a contest that has to do with anything on the game count.you're telling people to inflate your impressions.you'll get banned from ad networks.

I'm giving the domain out on webmaster forums.

Just a few domains that I got that I will not be using.

I still have a few more that I am going to give out. Once my site start getting a little popular i'll give different prizes.

Yeah plus what's to stop people from setting their browser to auto-reload every few minutes or seconds like Opera can.
