Hey gamer,

Thanks for the kind words.

Truthfully, after seeing some of the sites owned here on TA, I thought my site looked very ordinary. The fact is though the site served it's purpose as it was. I didn't spend a lot on it, I just wanted a site that people would find what they were looking for, free games to play.

One of the biggest mistakes I did was not having a usable membership data base. It would have been good to be able to email all the members once the new site was launched. I've corrected that mistake with the new one.

I get a lot of enquries asking if people can add their game to the site so that will be available with the new site. Thanks to TA I saw fizzy.com in someones sig and saw they had an interesting concept for developers.

3 ways to make money by distibuting your games on Fizzy.com:
  1. Upload your free game and get 30% of all the ad revenue it generates
  2. Enhance your game using our SDK and get 50% of all ad revenue it generates
  3. Sell your download game on Fizzy and you get 50% of all net sales revenue and all 505 of all ad revenue your game generates.
I'm not sure I could be as sophisicated but it sure looks a good idea if you could make it work.

Welcome to TA!!!

100k traffic a month is nothing to be embarrass about. With some hard work and strategy, I am pretty sure you can make it grow to 10k a day!

Hi Jack and thanks for the welcome.

I wasn't embarrassed by my traffic, I knew while not great it wasn't all bad. I was embarrassed by my site as I've seen some very, very nice sites owned by members here.

Jack, I'm not afraid of hard work. I'm short on strategy but am all ears. Anyone that can point me in the right direction to lifting traffic levels, I'd very much appreciate it.

Man, I wish I had of found this forum long ago.

PR6!
You should wrie a book for the mates here!
Your site doesnt look bad, but very generic. An overhaul like you suggested will do good.

I have no idea why the site is PR6. It's been like that for awhile now, so probably just luck.

I was told by a couple of people recently on my forum that one way to help increase PR is to make sure your domain has long registration on it. In the last week or so I added the full ten years registration period to see if it does help.

I was told that spiders look at that type of thing and if they see only a years registration it's taken as not being a long term site so the 'score' isn't as high as if they see long registration.

Hey Matt

Welcome to TA as mentioned earlier on I am also located in Australia. I just enjoyed a short stay at the Gold Coast and in Brisbane but now it is back to work for me

I do not agree with the way your links page has been built due to the fact that I personally believe you should only really link to relevant websites for the best effect. At this point when I click on a certain category there are many sub sections and the numbers just don't appear to add up as there appears to be very few links where you main categories say that there are a lot more.

Your home page like mine is very basic and it will be good to see how yours changes after the redesign. I believe you said you had a few thousand members that is a nice amount are you able to tell if they are all active? By having a base that large email send outs would be great to keep some customers up to date and active.

Maybe some time we can have a talk about strategies and good ways to boost traffic, income and exposure if you have MSN PM me your address and I will add you.

Hiya smithscomputers,

I live on the Gold Coast though it feels like I'm in the Artic today. Unusually cold even for the middle of winter.

As explained earlier I am a complete dunce when it comes to do anything with managing the website. However, I did speak to my webmaster last week about what you are saying in relation to the links and how it's set up. I don't think how the recip links are done makes much sense either. He told me they were valid links so I left it at that.

The whole membership set up was a debacle and it annoys me no end that I can't harness the users currently signed up and mass email them that the site has undergone changes. The webmaster has assured me that will be fixed with the newer version. I'm unsure if I can tell if users are active.

I don't have MSN but I do use skype, if you do let me know.

Hey Matt,

Ahh, unfortunately I do not use skype ahh, well we will find a way to talk in the future somehow... maybe I shall just PM you and good old fashion emails may be the best.

As for the links I have to disagree with your webmaster only because what they say is not correct... but I can talk to you about that via PM

When I was up there the weather was pretty bad but compared to Bellingen / Coffs Harbour it was fantastic. Unfortunately it did rain a lot on Thursday though.

Talk Soon,

Jamie
