Default GameFeed Questionaire

GameFeed Questionaire

Since the GameFeed release just two weeks ago, we have amazing results. Over 30 arcades have integrated with the system to publish over 700 games which have had over 60,000 plays!

We also have some new features that we are planning for the future as well to make the service even more useful, but for the moment, I wanted to start this thread to collect more information from TalkArcades members about the service and what you would like to see in the way of features. Please give us any feedback you have. Thanks.
  • 1. If you have published using GameFeed, what did you think about the integration and publishing steps? If you have not used GameFeed to publish games, why not?

  • 2. Do you have a type script that isn't currently supported by GameFeed? If so, what scripts would you like to use with the service?

  • 3. If GameFeed had a feature which allowed you to publish games automatically to your site based on a schedule and game selection criteria that you defined, would you like to use it?

  • 4. What features would make GameFeed a more useful service for you?

  • 5. What would you like to see more of with regards to GameFeed game content?

Thanks for your support! By working together we can create a network that both attracts great game content for distribution and makes the job of finding and adding great games as easy as possible.

I'd like to be able to edit the games I've published just in case I make a mistake, and need to go back and fix it.

Hi DrRobot, that is a good point which is on our to-do list. We will be adding developer/sponsor game edit capability soon as possible. In the meantime, you PM me about any changes that need to be made. Thank you.

1.I like it a lot; itís very easy to use and very quick to purplish games to more than one site.
2.?
3.I would not use it, I like to play games first before I publish them
4.The same like DrRobot, and to see who has added the games to their sites.
5.?
I also still have sometimes the problem; games get installed two times on one site.

4. I would like to see support for getting a json feed of the games as I already have some custom code created to read mochi's json feeds.

1) N/A to me. I recommend it to those who have games to publish though.

2) Yes. I was planning on asking to have it ported to one I have had in the making for years lol.

3) I thought I already was using the auto feed bot.

4) The ability to make it help me do a backup copy on my server. I have arcades that have so many games that the server does not see them all when showing a directory browsing via FTP, nor through the cPanel backup. If it were to copy the games into a second temp folder when publishing them to my sites, I could go in and download the files for backup purposes and then delete them from the temp folder so that the number never grew above the cut off point. I was going to do this myself, but I'm finding myself crunched for time again lol.

5) More games lol.

I'm liking the GameFeed and I highly recommend it for those who have not tried it.

OK, suggestions to add to question 4.

First off, an "unpublish" button. If something goes wrong, the file is corrupted while publishing, it would make it easier to fix if we could hit unpublish, then publish again. A "republish" button might also work in some cases, but would not in cases of server crashes etc(see third suggestion below).

Secondly, a button to manually over ride the auto publishing bot, and force it to never publish that specific game to a specific site.

Third, a page with a comprehensive listing of games installed to a site, in reverse chronological order in which they were installed. IE, games installed last at the top of the list. If a server crashed and I had to restore from a backup a couple days old, I could go in and compare the list to my old database, figure out which games are on the list but not in the old backup, and use the first suggestion up top to tell it to un publish, then re publish, getting the games back.

I figured out a means to back things up though. I added a field to the database to mark files that were backed up already, then wrote a script to go find entries from "GameFeed" that were marked not backed up, copy the game file and thumb to a temp folder, and mark that entry backed up. I manually go in and run it, cut and paste via FTP client the files in the temp folder to my backups, and repeat each day as needed.
