- auto dup detection / prevention with md5 cross-correlation. Detects dups 100% of the time. md5 hash correlation is your friend. - sanity checking of swfs to make sure they are intact - i've seen this a handful of times, either the swf is a shell for loading additional files that aren't local and don't work, or the file has become corrupted and can't fully be read. swftools is your friend. - sanity checking on images and gamefiles. ensure that all referenced files exist on the filesystem and vice versa. looked at the example site and I see a few games with missing thumbs so it looks like a trend. - auto fixing of improper game height / width ratios. I scripted a sanity check finally tonight of my own DB, and an uncomfortable chunk of my games had an incorrect HxW ratio. Sometimes they weren't off by that much, but it's enough to be annoying and screw with your formatting. IE the DB HxW didn't match up with the game's true HxW to the point where the ratio was off by a >0 margin. swftools is your friend. No I have not bought the gamepack and am not affiliated w/ it in any way. Those are the steps above I've followed on my own site to ensure QA. There are 0 human steps involved in all of the above, so the margin for error is near 0. Most game sites I've seen have some measure of dups whether they realize it or not. swftools doesn't work for dcr files AFAIK. Tudaloo. |

Read up on how to generate an md5 hash of a file. Once you master that, populate a new column in your games table with that value (just a 32 character text string). Then all you have to do is let a script or SQL work the magic for you in looking for files that match on those strings. The math is not important, just know that md5 works as a very good measure of uniqueness.

Just an update:
For a limited time, the pack is only $23.95. This offer expires on November 14th, 2008. Also, I have modified the Arcadem version of the pack to be compatible with the original Arcadem game pack - meaning there are no longer conflicting file names. |
