What is the best method of display for an arcades content guys?
Does having just a whole bunch of images on the home page/browse pages work best or does having images mixed with title/desc beside them work even better? Or even just titles linked to the games with a mouseover popup of the title/desc/img? Just trying to figure out what everyone else likes, cause me personally I hate seeing a whole screen full of just images and no text, it bothers me for some reason lol but I see it all over the place on arcades that are looking quite successful, so it must be working for someone. And then smashingames has all images at the top and all titles for most of the page remaining and no desc?? What do you guys think works best? ![]()

Just don't make it an overload for viewers, such as having the pregnant content or too much content in a single area. Try to spread it out.
Most arcades use a 3 column layout that enforces a pregnant look. I, myself, use a 2 column layout that is clean and simplistic with a mix of image, title and short description. |

thats what i've always thought, but then i see sites that just have a huge amount of game images all in a box with no space in between each one set up for related games or even on the home page for newest/most popular/etc. I cant see how that is helpful for a visitor but apparently it works somehow?

on that note, anyone have any idea how googles website optimizer could be used for an arcade?
was going to try that one time and it would be perfect for this situation, but their method of seeing which version of a site works best is by viewing a specific page, I would say viewing the game display page would be the goal, thats simple, but its not just one page, its any of the possibly thousands for some sites....so...is it even possible to use googles website optimizer for anarcade in this way?
