Chat/Shoutbox on Arcades?

How many of you have a chat or shoutbox application on your arcades? Do people use them?

I had a shoutbox on my arcade and I kept getting people swearing and saying nasty and hateful things. I banned a lot of bad words, but they found ways around it.

I'm sure not everyone has the same experience.

I just put up a remotely hosted chat app on http://ohfreegames.com but so far no one seems to be using it lol.

not surprised no ones using it , it takes you off site. If you had a little chatbox they'd use it.

I have a shoutbox on 2 of my sites. The shout is for members only. Mostly people post smiley faces and say hi with the occasional rudeness like arcadegamez mentioned.

I always wondered about that. It just seams like one more widget you can add to your web site.

the only way to have a chat box work,is to have it in the index or column above the fold.
anything else,they won't use it.

We put a shoutbox on some time ago. I must say that it is true you will get some rude comments so we set ours to clean out everything everyday. That seemed to slow down the guys wanting attention so bad because they knew that the comment would only last a day and then they had to do it again. I agree that it is not easy to get guys to use them at all. You seem to need a certain amount of regulars and it does need to be placed high on the page. We upgraded to a chat program also in order to keep more guys out the shoutbox with rude comments.
