Flash Games are Changing
So I just published a new post on my arcade blog outlining some of the best games I've played this year (please digg the post up if you have a digg account - thanks!). And in creating the post I started thinking about the way flash games have been changing over the past year or so. The more computer and web technologies advance the more detail you can cram into a little flash game file.
But here's the thing, flash game file sizes are increasing. I hand pick all the games that I upload to sly5.net and find on average that 1 in 3 games are over the 2MB file size. We're seeing more and more games being launched between 5 and 10 MB in file size. Little by little, flash games are beginning to compete with downloadable PC games of the likes of bigfishgames for example. And of course it's a winning solution, because why bother downloadnig and installing a desktop game when you can play it live online?
